UNIQUE BLOOMING BULBS THAT YOUR CRITTERS WON’T EAT!

If you’re seeking more spring through summer interest in your gardens,  blooming bulbs may be the perfect solution.  Blooming bulbs add significant color, fragrance, texture and height variation to a garden that may be otherwise lacking interest. Seasonal blooming bulbs are typically low maintenance, dependable and easy to grow. A great usage of bulbs is for filling in the gaps between herbaceous perennials, shrubs and grasses, or naturalizing them in an open lawn or woodland area.  Many folks are hesitant to plant bulbs because they may have observed that deer or other critters have a palate for certain bulbs, such as tulips.  As organic gardeners, it is our duty at Marvin’s Organic Gardens to provide floral enthusiasts with natural solutions to pest problems.  We have selected numerous bulb varieties that are pest resistant so that you can enjoy all the beautiful blooms and fragrance without worry of pest invasion.   In addition to selecting pest resistant bulb varieties, we recommend increasing bulb vigor with the addition of compost, which should be applied at the time of planting directly around the bulb.  Seasonal applications of our organic 3-3-3 fertilizer will also help bulb vitality when spread a top the soil or mulch surface.  We have listed below some of our unique and beautiful blooming bulbs that will not fall victim to your hungry deer and critters.
