HOT NEW GREEN GARDEN GOODS FOR 2010

1. Non GMO Corn Gluen Meal- We have finally procured a solid supply of Non GMO (genetically modified organism) Corn Gluen Meal. This organic pre-emergent weed control contains naturally occurring substances that inhibit weed seed germination when applied to lawns and garden in early spring, late spring and fall. Also, Corn Gluten Meal naturally contains 9% nitrogen which helps promote healthy lawn and landscape growth. This granular product is easy to spread, and totally safe to play in your lawn and gardens once applied.

2. Eucalyptus Mulch- Our latest mulch is a sustainable alternative to common hardwood mulch.  Eucalyptus mulch is harvested from Eucalyptus trees, which regenerate within 6-7 years, keeping the parent tree alive and the forest growing.  Eucalyptus mulch is attractive, easy-to-spread, rot resistant, and will not only last longer than most hardwood mulches, but also resist fungal allergens.  We now offer Natural Eucalyptus which looks similar to texture and color of cypress, and Aged Heartwood Eucalyptus, bearing unique natural, dark brown earth-tones that maintain a rich appearance for months and months.  Our mulches never contain chemical dyes.

3. Bird, Bat and Owl Houses- Our classy and functional houses are handmade by Marvin’s Organic Gardens green construction team with untreated pine and cedar.  Bats help to control mosquitoes, birds reduce many pest insects in the garden and owls eat a diversity of rodents such as: mice, moles, voles, rabbits and skunks. All houses should be positioned 10’-15’ up on the side of a home, post or tree, where late afternoon sun will warm the house.  Animate and protect your gardens by attracting our flying friends to your yard.

4. Organic Soil Conditioner- Aged and composted pine bark has been finely ground to create the perfect amendment for loosening heavy clay soils, recondition flower and vegetable beds and helps to retain moisture.  This attractive soil conditioner is versatile enough for use as a mulch, or can be incorporated into existing soils to promote aeration for optimum plant root growth.  Blueberries, Azalea, Rhododendrons and other acid-loving plants benefit significantly by mixing Organic Soil Conditioner around the root zone prior to planting, and also as an annual mulch.

6. Fragrant Cedar Raised Beds-Our raised beds will help you to easily grow vegetables, herbs and fruits in the convenience of an easy-to-assemble frame perfectly suited to fill with compost.  We carry 2’x4’, 4’x4’ and 4’x8’ raised beds which are made from sustainably harvested local cedar, handcrafted by Amish artisan carpenters in Adams County.  Our raised beds are never treated with harmful chemical preserves because fragrant cedar naturally repels wood eating insects and rotting fungus, allowing our raised beds to remain solid for 10 years or more.

7. Organic Wasp and Hornet Killer- You don't need to risk your health or endanger the environment just to get rid of wasps and hornets. Hot Pepper Wax Animal Repellant-  Made from spicy hot cayenne peppers, this Hot Pepper Wax spray effectively repels deer, rabbits and squirrels.  Can be applied directly on fruits, vegetables, root crops, legumes, container plants, ornamentals and grasses.  Can also be used to keep animals from chewing wood structures and fences. Apply until foliage or surface is wet. One application can last up to 4 weeks.

12. 20lb. Bags of Worm Castings- We carry 5 pound bags of worm casting, but due to popular demand, we now offer 20 pound bags to help fertilize more plants for less.  Our worm castings are locally produced, and can used to promote bigger, brighter, longer lasting fruit and flowers.  Worm castings are the richest natural fertilizer known to humans, and also enhance the ability of your soil to retain water and inhibit root diseases such as root rot. Worm Castings are packed with minerals such as, concentrated nitrates, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and calcium. It also contains manganese, copper, zinc, cobalt, borax, iron, carbon and nitrogen.
