Marvin’s Organic Gardens (MOG) is the Original full service Ecological Landscaping company based near Lebanon, Ohio and serving the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton communities. We are a multi-generational, family-owned and operated business offering award-winning, design, build, maintenance and educational services since 1999. At MOG, we strive to shift the traditional landscaping paradigm to an evolved regenerative model based on time honored technologies. We are Plant-Passionate, integrating a diversity of native perennials and trees into our gardens. We cater to those wanting a regenerative, resilient, abundant personal or community sanctuary with food, medicine, and habitat for all. We use our special in house compost blend, source local materials, use solar charged electric equipment, organic inputs, etc.

We are looking to hire 2-3 hardworking individuals with a great attitude and aptitude to learn and mentor in a collaborative setting. Having extensive plant and hardscape skills and experience is preferred. Plant knowledge will continue to expand in this position. These opportunities are open to employees, independent contractors or those desiring to transition into entrepreneurship for the 2024 season and beyond.

Specific tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • General Maintenance: Hand weeding & weed whipping, edging, mulching, watering; applying organic fertilization, organic herbicide and natural pest control ++

  • Landscape or Habitat Restoration & Installation: Planting trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, grass or prairie seed; invasive plant removal, creating rock borders, installing weed fabric, spreading compost; drainage, rainwater harvesting ++

  • Hardscapes: Construction of rock or paver walkways, walls, stairs and patios; arbors, fences, water features, LED Lighting ++

 

No Mowing or Snow Removal

 

Job Types: Full-time

Pay rate: Ranges from $20-$40. Based on experience & position as an employee vs. independent contractor

Schedule: 7-8 hour shift Monday - Friday. Some Saturdays may be needed if rainouts during Spring & Fall Seasons.

Required: Valid driver's license and a vehicle to drive to and from work and various locations.
Passing Drug Test (for illegal substances) and Background Check

Work Location: Various locations in the Northern Greater Cincinnati area, and Southern Greater Dayton Regions

 

Expectations and Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year work experience in landscaping

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment in variety of weather conditions

  • Basic knowledge of plants with desire to significantly expand

  • Enthusiasm for ecology and ecosystem processes

  • Prior experience in farming, ecological field work, and/or horticulture strongly preferred

  • Confidence with power tools (leaf blower, weed whip, chainsaw and hedgers) is required

  • Confidence running heavy equipment (dingo, skidsteer, excavators, driving truck and trailer) highly desired

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well independently and in a team

  • Desire to uphold an inclusive, positive work culture


Note: Hiree may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
